Ion Plating Grey coating looks like silver grey. The color of IP Grey could be measured by Lab value: “L” value is around 70; “a” and “b” value determines the final appearance of coating which could be adjusted on request of customer demand.
The IP Grey coating is composed by chromium nitride or chromium nitride alloy. The thickness of IP Grey coating for the decorative purpose ranges from 0.3μm to 1.0μm and it is generally above 2.5μm for functional purpose.
